If the Rocket is healthy the rotation will more then likely be Wang, Pettitte, Clemens, and the Moose.

This makes Phil Hughes the long man (as well as Ian Kennedy if he is healthy). The back end is Joba Chamberlain and Mariano Rivera. Joe Torre will run them out there as much as they can possibly do it.... and then some.

Outside of those two the pen really has some questions. Can the Yankees win if the starters don't give them 7 solid innings????

Luis Vizciano can definitely pitch the 7th inning when rested, even though he did give up a double and a homerun today.

I've used Rex Grossman to describe Kyle Farnsworth. Good Rex/Bad Rex.... Good Kyle/Bad Kyle. Farnsy can be LIGHTS OUT when he is on.... the only problem is he can also turn the lights out on his own ball club at times. Two solid outings on back to back days however, we'll see how he works out and how much trust Joe Torre puts in him.

The rest of the pen is beyond shaky.... Edwar Ramirez and Brian Bruney need someone to point them in the direction of the strike zone. Chris Britton and Sean Henn have lost 3 games this month alone in the 9th inning or later, and everyone watching knew that all three games were over before they touched the mound.

Ross Ohldenhorf definitely deserves the chance to be the "6th inning guy" in the role that Torre has used Edwar Ramirez in recently.

7 solid innings = Yankees win
5 innings = hold your breath!

How to deal with Red Sox fans

Now let me start by saying I have NO problem with Red Sox fans. Let me elaborate though. I have no problem with FANS of the team, people who watch every game they can, read up on the team and follow the Red Sox as much as you and I follow the Yankees.

I have a problem with the "fans" that just wear a shirt and a hat and call themselves fans of the team.

Case in point: I was at the mall today and stumbled into a Yankees fan in a store and started talking about last nights game.. in detail, this kid was obviously a fan. A Red Sox "fan" over heard and made a comment about the Red Sox being the greatest, to which the kid I was talking to brought up the classic "26 world championships" remark. Which, while true, is over used and I like to test the water first. My response was "who plays second base for the Red Sox?" ANY real fan knows the answer is the future 2007 rookie of the year Dustin Pedroia, however this "fans" response was to stare at me and had no clue.

So what I'm suggesting is next time you run into a sox "fan" question their knowledge a little bit. Questions that work most often are:

- Who plays second base?
-What do you think of Dice-K? many "fans" will say they LOVE him, while a FAN says "eh, expected much better."
- Who's better this year, Josh Becket or Curt Schilling? - the name CS (aka 38pitches.com) really catches the "fan"

anyway you get my point, test the knowledge and make sure their a real fan before starting a "we're better" arguement. Don't argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience. :)

12-2 Yankees bottom 6

Hey everyone.... first post :)

Currently it is 12-2 Yankees in the bottom of the 6th inning. Chien-Ming Wang looks strong as usual tonight and is perfectly in line to not only win his team leading 19th game for the second year in a row, but the game that clinches the wild card for the Yankees. It probably won't be good enough to win the Cy Young award with Josh Beckett already having won 20 games and beaing Wang and the Yankees last time out, however considering he missed the first month of the season I have to think 19 wins is quite the feat.

Now as Yankees fans at the begining of the year, no one would have settled for the wild card, but considering all of the injuries at the begining of the year and the huge start the Red Sox had, the wild card is just fine with all Yankee fans at this point. Just goes to show, NEVER count out the Yankees!!
