The Bullpen

The rotation has one real question for the playoffs heading into the final week of the season. If the Rocket is healthy the rotation will more then likely be Wang, Pettitte, Clemens, and the Moose.

This makes Phil Hughes the long man (as well as Ian Kennedy if he is healthy). The back end is Joba Chamberlain and Mariano Rivera. Joe Torre will run them out there as much as they can possibly do it.... and then some.

Outside of those two the pen really has some questions. Can the Yankees win if the starters don't give them 7 solid innings????

Luis Vizciano can definitely pitch the 7th inning when rested, even though he did give up a double and a homerun today.

I've used Rex Grossman to describe Kyle Farnsworth. Good Rex/Bad Rex.... Good Kyle/Bad Kyle. Farnsy can be LIGHTS OUT when he is on.... the only problem is he can also turn the lights out on his own ball club at times. Two solid outings on back to back days however, we'll see how he works out and how much trust Joe Torre puts in him.

The rest of the pen is beyond shaky.... Edwar Ramirez and Brian Bruney need someone to point them in the direction of the strike zone. Chris Britton and Sean Henn have lost 3 games this month alone in the 9th inning or later, and everyone watching knew that all three games were over before they touched the mound.

Ross Ohldenhorf definitely deserves the chance to be the "6th inning guy" in the role that Torre has used Edwar Ramirez in recently.

7 solid innings = Yankees win
5 innings = hold your breath!
